Today, Scotland is a powerhouse of a nation with a new found
voice in political affairs created by the advent of the Scottish
Parliament. This has helped to give Scotland a greater
international profile on the world stage. Scots and Scotland still have
a huge amount to offer the world – as dramatic and imposing as
Scotland’s mountains and lochs. Imagine the impact Scots and Scotland
can have now by working together and harnessing the new collective
energy, talent and enthusiasm.
Over the last thirty years, Scotland has become
one of the most transformed economies in Europe. Sectors such as
Finance, Biotechnology, Electronics, Energy, Creative Industries and
Education now dominate a modern and diverse economy. Traditional images
of Scotland, such as bagpipes, tartan, Burns and whisky all make up the
proud backdrop, but they have now been joined by a new, modern image of
Scotland – of a nation driving forwards into the 21st century with a
thriving economy, welcoming cities and vibrant culture.
Scotsin is keen to highlight the best of Scottish heritage and
tradition, alongside illuminating images of modern Scots and Scotland.
Our bright future must be a “distinct buzz and distinguished blend” –
“the Scotsin hogmanay effect” – a celebration of the auld year(s) and a
clear vision of the new.
Not enough people know about this modern Scotland or fully appreciate
its potential. We want to put that right – with your help! By reaching
out to our extended family and friends around the world (Scots, our
clubs and societies, businesses, networks, organisations, charities
etc) and showing them this contemporary image of Scotland, expertly
blended with tradition, we hope to strengthen existing relationships
and forge new cultural, educational and business links worldwide. This
is essential if we are to establish Scotland as one of the world’s most
successful small nations.
