Press Release Ref: The Legends 2008_Ann._PR1_Scot Tartan Legends Looking To Silence English Lions An 18-man squad of Scottish football legends will tackle their English counterparts on May 15th at St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton to kick off The 2008 Legends Series live on ITV4. Household names from English and Scottish football will compete for The Alan Ball Memorial Cup II, in tribute to the legendary World Cup Winner. The match will mark the first time senior England and Scotland football teams have clashed since the game decided by Don Hutchinson’s 1-0 winner for Scotland in November 1999. Manager for The England Legends will be former Everton, Manchester City and England midfielder Peter Reid. Reid was Manager of The England Legends in July 2007 when England defeated The Rest of the World 4-2 in the Alan Ball Memorial Cup at Milton Keynes’ stadium:mk. Reid confirmed: “England v Scotland resurrects a rivalry without equal anywhere on the planet, the oldest in world football. I know the last thing the England lads wants is to lose to Scotland. North of the border they’re already saying they would have done better at Euro 2008 than England so this is one way of finding out who has the better football pedigree.” Full details of the Scotland Manager and squad to be announced. -Ends- Images England v Scotland Legends logo at 300dpi can be downloaded here www.toastevents.com/images/2008legends/eng_scot_print_300dpi.psd <http://www.toastevents.com/images/2008legends/eng_scot_print_300dpi.psd> Press Enquiries to: Paul Reaney, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it <mailto: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it > The 2008 Legends Series 0845 370 1967 Notes to Editors: The 2008 Legends Series - The Alan Ball Memorial Cup II: England Legends v Scotland Legends This summer, The England Legends will put their mark down to become the foremost Legends team in world football, starting at St. Mary’s.
