GLASGOW: Hot off the Press - Glasgow's Bid Book ready to go Print E-mail
After months of work – by literally hundreds of people – Glasgow’s all important Candidate City File, or Bid Book, is finally ready. Bid Director Derek Casey went to Glasgow printing company J. Thomson to watch it roll off the presses. And he was excited by what he saw.

"A lot of hard work has gone into making today possible. Over the past year or so, a wide variety of people from a wide variety of organisations have contributed their expertise to the Bid Book. While first and foremost it shows that we can deliver one of the best Games ever, I think that it also shows exactly how much we want to win.

Bid Director, Derek Casey examines the Bid Book as it comes off the printing presses.

"Our Games would be something that would involve all of Glasgow, all of Scotland and all of the Commonwealth. This Bid Book sets out our vision for the future – a vision that celebrates sport and the shared ideals of the Commonwealth. It is a vision we want the whole world to share."

Nick Thomson, Deputy Chairman, J. Thomson colour printers:

"Everyone here at J Thomson is delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to Scotland's bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

"Winning would be great for Glasgow and Scotland. Hosting athletes from round the world would give us the opportunity to show off our city. It would be great for business, particularly family businesses like ours that rely on a healthy tourist industry.

"Best of luck to Glasgow."
