The Scottish Executive has produced a leaflet called "Thinking about Buying" .

Details of properties for sale can be found from a number of sources.

Most property in Scotland is sold through solicitors (lawyers) or estate agents.

There are also many websites advertising properties for sale countrywide, either privately or through estate agents.

The average price for a residential property in Scotland is now £126,538, (November 2005) according to figures released by Registers of Scotland.
