Are you Scottish? Want to meet new people or business contacts or connect with friends or colleagues from your home town, school, college or university?
The Caley needs your help. Many London Scots will remember the Royal Caledonian Schools in Bushey and will have enjoyed watching their Pipers and Dancers who graced many London events. What is not as well know is the continuing work of the Schools.
In an attempt to rectify this and to raise much needed donations an Appeal has been launched by the Chairman Iain Stewart Hunter. Since 1996 when the Bushey site was sold, the income from the sale proceeds has been used to help the children of needy Scots in London and those of Scots who are serving or who have served in the armed forces.
Grants of over one million pounds have already been awarded and these have made a real difference to the educational prospects of many young Scots. A few examples of this help includes:
Living expenses grants to 20 young Scots in further and higher education;
Helping with the costs of training a young paraplegic swimmer who is breaking into the Scottish National team;
Sponsoring a talented Scots involved in the arts, including 4 pipers;
Much needed grants to help with the cost of school clothing and school trips.
Another aspect of the work being done by the Caley is a new Education Project where we are working with teachers and families to combat the disruption that blights the education of many children from service families due to the number of moves their parents are forced to make.
For this work to continue and hopefully increase the Caley is looking for your support. Full information can be obtained from John Horsfield Chief Executive at
